Flo & Fjære is the norwegian name for tide. This was a project inspired by Grimstads archipelago and the anchores with the easily spotted symbols next to them. This clear symbol is a modern profile for Grimstad with roots to the city's history as a coastal town. The symbol which is incorporated into the bowls, is painted on the rocks in the archipelago and was earlier used for warping sail boats into and out of Grimstads' port. To use this symbol in products and part of Grimstads' profile, gives the users a long lasting memory with historic and local historic significance and knowledge about Grimstad. The history about the symbol is written on the box.
The bowls are developed as a corporate gift for Grimstad municipality, and can be used as a thank you for official occasions. In this way they both get a physical memory of Grimstad as well as a functional one.
The project was a collaboration with Margrethe Haugen.
